It appears that filings are in fact down and activity remains steady. Permian Frac Spreads Drive Q1-2021 After bottoming out in June/July, the Permian has seen spread activations increase over 200%. The next technical hurdles are 80 (last seen in April) and 100 (last seen in March). Hitting 80 active spreads in January at $47 WTI is highly likely. Operators averaged ~130 spreads in the Permian throughout Q1 of 2020. 15 Active Basins: Who’s #2? Three basins in the U.S. are in a dog fight for having the second most active number of frac spreads. The TX-LA-MS-Salt (commonly known as the Haynesville), Western Gulf (commonly known as the Eagle Ford) and Appalachian (a combination of Marcellus and Utica formations) are all battling for second place. Look for an update on the Frac Spread Count shortly as the rig counts were moved up from Friday to today (Wednesday December 30th, 2020). We’ll say a firm goodbye to 2020 and welcome you to a new year filled with a lot of unknowns. We’re rooting for our readers to find peace alongside their patience.
