There’s a noticeable shift underway in how completions are being carried out—and it’s not just about how much is getting done, but who’s doing it and with what kind of equipment. Industry conversations continue to highlight efficiency, emissions, and electrification, but the transition on the ground is proving to be more uneven. The changes taking place aren’t part of a grand shift toward clean energy. Instead, they reflect practical recalibrations, driven by economics, emissions targets, and the ongoing search for operational efficiency. And with the data now catching up, we can begin to tell what’s actually happening versus what’s been marketed. Albeit it is a completely different debate but the future (or at least the near future) of energy cannot be imagined without oil. However, we will see technological innovations and process re-engineering coming to the rescue. Be it frac’ing, refracs or electric fleets – our focus of the discussion today – such techniques will emerge rendering the oil and gas sector greener and efficient.
